Synopsis
Sanctions laws exist to maintain the international peace and security in the world. When a potential threat is identified, international bodies will react by establishing sanctions laws onto designated persons in order to dampen their plans.
Simply because sanctions are complex by nature, it would be wise for financial institutions to adopt a thorough screening procedure as well as a reporting process to ensure proper compliance with the different sanction programmes in place. Sanctions can impact our businesses in many areas, hence, employees must be mindful not to breach the sanctions as the penalties can be hefty.
